Obama: ‘ISIS Poses No Existential Threat.’ CIA Director: ISIS Poses ‘Significant’ Threat

During his State of the Union Address tonight, President Obama will likely assure the American people that ISIS plays no threat to the homeland. He assured the media this morning that ISIS “poses no existential threat.”

This morning, however, former deputy and acting CIA director Michael Morell stated the following during a Senate Armed Services Committee Hearing:

“I believe ISIS poses a significant, strategic, and lethal threat to the United States of America … The nature and significance of the threat posed by ISIS flows from the fact that ISIS is, at the same time, a terrorist group, a quasi-state, and a revolutionary political movement. We have not faced the likes of it before.”

Morell went on to say that ISIS is gaining affiliates “faster than Al Qaeda ever did.” ISIS in Libya is expanding in members and currently controls land in the country.

On Monday, leading senators petitioned several government agencies in the Obama administration to stop stonewalling an investigation into the histories of 113 foreign-born people who were implicated in terrorist activities. The 113 had entered the United States legally. Several of them were even approved for citizenship, the Free Beacon reports.

The disconnect between what the president says about ISIS and what his own terrorism experts are saying has never appeared so vast. The level of misinformation that is being accepted as absolute truth by millions of Americans appears to be at an all time high.
